And whether you are an artist regularly appearing in galleries or working by day and creating by night, the emotional tax of being committed to a life of creativity in New York can take a toll.

From your well-being as a creative, to studio practice and professional presence, we are here for artists.

In fall of 2026, Neighbor is launching an artist residency program specifically designed for visual artists living and working in New York City.
While some artist residencies offer space or time to create, we offer a gallery in the heart of Chelsea and a network of support to help emerging artists create their first solo exhibition.
From feedback on work, to pricing, curatorial support, marketability, and installation, our artist council is available to offer their expertise to help artists execute their first solo exhibition in Chelsea.
In 2026, we will pilot a 6-month residency of 3 artists.
Over the course of 6 months, artists will prepare a full body of work which will culminate in a solo exhibition at Neighbor.
Because Neighbor is more than just an exhibition space in Chelsea, we prioritize artists eager to engage with those involved in other aspects of life at Neighbor.
From offering a class for a partner youth development organization or thinking of creative ways to engage the community at Neighbor in your creative process, we prioritize artists who create with community in mind.
