A space to be a good neighbor in a great neighborhood.
For many, moving to Chelsea is a sign of arrival. But for those of us who have lived here for a long time, staying put has been an act of sacrificial love.
We’ve seen our neighborhood change around us with rent hikes, closures, and an influx of chain stores. Even though we’ve stayed, it’s easy to feel like the community around us has changed. With hyper-gentrification and huge increase in tourism, the question can be raised - who is Chelsea really for?
Just before the pandemic, a group of friends and neighbors started to dream.
What would it look like to create a space uniquely for the people who live here?
Est. 2022With a love for Chelsea in one hand and the generosity of friends, neighbors, and members of Storefront Church in the other, Neighbor was formed.
On any given day, you could walk by Neighbor and see children’s art classes, artist pop-up’s, or community board meetings. It could be rented for a birthday party or used by a neighborhood non-profit to host a clothing drive.
No matter the event, one thing is clear.
Here, we live as neighbors.
